‘X’ Marks the Spot

By Davida Enara (2021)

Months that feel like years

But like minutes, pass

Strangers who appear

Like they’ve shared your past,

Roots that have outgrown their pots

Identities like thickening plots

Affirming truths nestled

In people, walking vessels,

Musing minds and wondering hearts

Longing earnestly for more

Jesus at the center

His will at the core,

Shared questions that oddly suffice

As much-needed answers

Blaring answers

To questions, barely even whispered,

Many sensible words

And sweet, comprehensive silence

Deep, complex reasoning

And simple understanding,

Reawakened ambition

And intentional pursuit

Busy heads and hands

That readily follow suit,

Serendipitous happenings

Far more divine than chance

Senses that are attentive

To life’s sublime dance,

A respectful regard

Friendly wave at the old

Cheeky anticipation

For all you’re yet to behold,

For some time now you’ve known

That this chapter is gold

Maintain the right posture

As your story unfolds.
